South Staffordshire Plc awarded RoSPA Gold for putting safety first
We are proud to have received a prestigious RoSPA Award, demonstrating our Group’s commitment to health and safety excellence.

South Staffordshire Plc has won a gold Award in the Occupational Achievement Sector, demonstrating our dedication to keeping employees, contractors and clients safe at work.
Now in its 69th year, and with almost 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries, covering over seven million employees, the RoSPA Awards are the world’s largest health and safety awards programme, recognising those organisations who have set the highest standards in accident prevention. Each RoSPA Award entrant is assessed against rigorous criteria, making South Staffordshire Plc a world leader in shaping safer, healthier workplaces.
Richard Brookes, Group Head of Health and Safety at South Staffordshire Plc said:
“We work hard to create the right conditions so our people can manage hazards and return home safely each day. Our StayingSafeTogether framework supports this through leadership accountability, clear expectations and proactive learning grounded in the reality of work. Operating in critical infrastructure and utilities means we must manage high-consequence risks with hazard knowledge, precision and control, all within a culture of psychological safety that empowers speaking up, pausing when needed and continuously improving. This award is testament to our commitment and continued focus.”
Charley Maher, Group CEO at South Staffordshire Plc, commented:
“We are very proud to receive a RoSPA Gold Award, reflecting our strong internal systems to manage critical risk safety and keep our people safe, and giving our clients assurance they’re partnering with a Group that prioritises both risk management and workforce engagement to deliver results.”
Julia Small, RoSPA’s Growth Director, added:
“South Staffordshire Plc should be proud of the hard work and commitment to keeping people safe that has resulted in a RoSPA Award, which honours those organisations who have achieved the highest standards in health and safety in the workplace.
“RoSPA regards South Staffordshire Plc as a strong example of the importance of making accident prevention central to any successful organisation, not just for the benefit of employees, customers and clients, but also society as a whole.”
Sponsored by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), the RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, and receives entries from organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for the health and safety industry.
