OnSite supports Birmingham City Council’s Enabling Works for the Smithfield Birmingham development
The sewer and drain specialist restores a stormwater attenuation tank and drainage to help de-risk the site and support future Birmingham Smithfield Development.
OnSite, South Staffordshire Plc’s leading sewage and drain specialist, was called in to help Birmingham City Council, who had identified an issue with an attenuation tank at the Smithfield Birmingham Development site.
OnSite’s specialist team were asked to clean the tank to return it to serviceability and to reduce the risk of future surcharging. To complete the works, a high risk confined space entry was needed, with OnSite’s specialist in-house confined space rescue and support team present throughout.
Having cleared the tank’s blocked outgoing and released a seized outlet flap valve, the OnSite team ensured the tank was workable and also cleaned the main 1750mm diameter carrier drain, which was 60% blocked, to return it to a free-flowing state.
